I know most of you associate Talossa more with the web than with a real chunk of real estate on the planet, so this is hopefully the first of many posts I'll be doing that show just what Talossa really looks like.

I've always wanted to do this.
It might help some of my fellow Republic folk (I still cannot force myself to use the word Republican to describe myself :-) ) who live thousands of miles away from here to see what I see everyday.

I was poking around YouTube and found this video of the lakefront.
Talossan Lakefront
Most of the footage is of Maritiimi Province in the summer.
I do not know who posted this.

It's a YouTube home video with benefits so take that into consideration.
It's long, a bit jumpy at times, and the the music becomes bothersome after awhile (IMO-I turned the sound waaaayyyyy down), but it does give you a feel for our lake front.

Given the random motorcycle appearances throughout the footage, I'm guessing that it was shot by a biker, possibly while here on a fishing excursion.

Talossa can be ugly, but it does have its beauty as well.
Hopefully most of the really ugly stuff is behind us now.:-)

Looks very mediterranean on a summer day! Do you see the opposite shore from the lakefront, or is it really like looking at the open sea?

No. You cannot see the other side.
There is a reason they call these The Great Lakes!!

Lake Michigan is around 65 miles across where we are.
The normal horizon is about 30-40 miles which increases with height.
I've never been on the top floors of our skyscrapers to check, but I'm guessing on a clear day you should be able to see the Michigan shoreline from the upper floors.

As an oddity, from time to time you'll get air conditions over the lake that cause the sunlight to bend so you can see the opposite shore, but these are unusual. I've only seen this a few times in my life. Most people mistake this phenomenon as clouds on the horizon.

    HOME!

It's quite a pleasant stretch of land. I can't wait until I can get there. As soon as you change the government and repeal some of that fascist Homeland Security Patriot Act bullshit, I'll be over.
