Balsâ Livereascâ (free pool) and Balsâ Goáleascâ (goal pool) are my newest additions to the culture that is Talossa.

Basic rules

Each player or team captain (skip) picks a pocket at the head of the table as their goal. Since there are only two, you either get one or the other.

The 1 ball, 3 ball and 5 ball are the only ones you'll be using. If you're using a pay table, you can play Balsâ Lotarái where the next ball taken from the table is put in play after a ball has been pocketed. Each ball is worth it's number so the 1 ball is worth 1 point. At the beginning of play, the 1 is on the head spot, the 3 is on the center spot and the 5 is on the foot spot. The first player must make their first contact with the 5 ball. Forcing the cue ball to make contact with two object balls in a single stroke is worth 1 point, hitting all three in one stroke is worth two points. Pocketing balls in your goal is worth an extra point. Pocketed balls are remarked unless there is a ball on it's mark. Then it stays out of play until the mark is cleared.

If you fail to score at any time during your inning, your inning is over and the next player gets the table as is. If you pocket the cue ball, you lose all the points your scored during that inning and the next player get ball in hand behind the headstring. If you force the cue ball off of the table, you lose your points scored, you get a 10 point penalty and the next player can put the ball anywhere on the table. You can play in innings like baseball or you can play toward a target score like 100 points. If you go with a target score and you go over the score, you lose the points you scored in the inning plus the number of points you went over the target. So let say you have 95 and you pocket the 5 in your goal. That's 6 points so you went over the target by 1 and your new score would be 94. When you go over, the next player gets the table as is.

Balsâ Goáleascâ is the same as above except, you only get points for balls pocketed in your goal and there is no extra point for pocketing in your goal. Caroms still count, too. Also, if you pocket a ball in any other pocket except your goal, your inning is over and you lose your points scored that inning. The ball is remarked and the next player gets the table as is.
