Of three large breweries in Frankfurt only this one survived. It's part of a larger consortium itself, and it's brewing stuff that is sold nationwide. Their webpage is full of the average braggadocio shareholder spin doctor blah blah, not nice to read. Some of the stuff is only sold locally, and I must admit, that I'm usually drinking this stuff. I find it tasty.
There is also a homepage of this traditional brand, but they've been bought by the brewery that I mentioned above. On my private homepage I posted photos that shew how the brewery was torn down. Once they had been brewing my favourite brew, but when I stopped drinking it they went broke at some moment in time it began too taste far too sweet and gooey and even in small quantities it caused headaches from hell.
I'm scratching my head because both webpages that I quoted suggest that Frankfurt is one of the most exciting places on earth. I'm really jingoistic about my hometown, but the guys who wrote this prose are exaggerating. Maybe they drank too much of their own brews...
More interesting may be the scene of so-called home- or microbreweries in this town. Maybe I'll have to go on an exploration trip sooner or later, thus I can report about these venues. ;-)
