Is it a specific butterfly, or are you proposing a generic butterfly? I think that the emblem should be of an animal/bird/plant/flower/insect/object which actually lives in Maricopa - either in that area of physical Talossa which is our province, in the Maricopa we are named for, or something from one of the areas of the world Maricopans are assigned from.
Better yet, why not design an animal? I'm afraid I don't know what animals are symbolic in the parts of America that are in Maricopa, but I can imagine an animal with the head of a tuatara, the tail of a platypus and the body of an American bird or animal, wearing perhaps a Hawai'ian lei and resting upon a particular plant...
