la garçâ malpadert Group: admins (4379 posts total) (last post: March 13, 2008 - 16:29) | Esteemed Governor, as a humble citizen of this Province, I make the following suggestions for what we need:
- a provincial immigration campaign. If the Federal Government can't pull something together to sell Talossa, we can at least sell Maricopa. This would include a "Welcome to Maricopa" webpage, and - a bold suggestion - a new provincial forum not on Wittenberg. This software sucks dead kittens through a straw.
- a provincial Government which kicks ass, takes names and does stuff without feeling the need to litigate it to death. Litigating stuff to death is the cancer that's killing the Federal Government. I think that the Provincial Government should just get on and whatever the buggery hell it likes. If the people don't like it we'll exercise our rights in the Provincial Constitution and just sack you without ceremony. And if the Federal Government don't like it we can have an amusing fight. :-)
I'm willing to serve in the Provincial Government if you think there's a job I can do.

JayH Group: friends (44 posts total) (last post: October 15, 2007 - 22:50) | I don't know if I should be posting here, as this isn't my province, but since the topic is immigration, and I'm a Friend of the Republic (which would, I'd think, make me part of your target demographic), I hope you'll pardon me:

I'll be honest, I don't find fights amusing, physical or verbal. From the outside looking in, the constant clawing on these boards is intriguing, in the same way that watching "Law & Order" is intriguing -- but I sure as heck wouldn't want to be a character in L&O.
To this observer, that fighting seems to be the raison d'etre (sp?) of the Wittenberg boards, and the Wittenberg boards seem to be Talossa. I can't help thinking that I must not be alone -- and if I'm right, then one of the things hampering new membership is the sense that immigrating to the Republic means continually baring one's throat to the wolves.
If I'm out of line, please say so.

Actually you're not too far out of line. You've very eloquently said some of what I have been feeling for a long time now...
However you need to distinguish politics from personalised fights. Politics is about debate and fighting etc etc. In politics at the end of a day trading barbs we all sit back and have a good brew and tell dirty stories to each other. And in the end we are learn something from one another.
Personalised fights are just brutal and serve no purpose other than inflating the egos of those who choose to participate. Hopefully we can learn to distinguish the two and keep the politics from getting personal.
Thanks for the view from the outside.
