Eric's government has been criticized and brought down for its alleged inactivity, and now that it's done the winning crew goes on a long vacation? This world is full of contradictions, and here's one of these.
You are confusing the Government with the Chamber. The Government can operate perfectly well while the Chamber is in recess, as long as it doesn't want to pass any laws. The new GVN (Governamáintsch dàl Viensitâ Naziunál) will definitely not be going on vacation. If the President can think of laws that need passing sometime in the next couple of weeks, I'd like to hear them.
The Seneschál has said to me, though, that part of the problem with our politics may be that the Chamber is always in session. How many months of the year does the German Bundestag sit for? I bet it's not 12. The NZ Parliament sits between 5 or 7 months depending on necessity. The legislature of the State of Texas sits for one month every two years, I seem to recall. Not having the Chamber *always* "on" will allow Deputies to recharge their batteries and cool off from fights.
Anyway, I don't know about you, but the Republic's politics have become too bitter and nasty for me recently, and it will do us all good to have a break.
