I have really wanted to comment on some things so,....
Draft laid-up brochure "Secede from Reality"
REally well written. OF course I am not keen on the Land Claims stuff, but what you have written I think accurately reflect the state of the Republic today. You hit on the areas that most citizens might be attracted to our quirky little republic. It is seems to be equal parts humor and serious. A good job all around. =)
I was looking forward to working on a project like this for the Immigration push, but I think you have this nicely in the bag.
The only real suggestion I have, and this may be a non-issue, but what do you think about leaving room for the email address for their local Talossan Citizen Contact so that if an interested party wants to talk to someone local about this 'stange pamphlet' they can. That way they do not have to feel afraid or hesitant to contact the scary (sounding official title and not the person) Minister of Immigration. (Is there is female form for Minister? Ministress?)
Updating the Website and Moving onto a New server and CMS
I am available to updating the Website since I have an Typo3 account.
I would also be interested in talks and decisions about this the ISP and so on, if you will have me. =)
Commemorative Money
I have been beat down by Miestra's tenacity on this subject. I am not so sure that this is the time for such things, but there seems to be interest, so perhaps we should give it a serious look. I prefer things less arbitrary, but was thinking that perhaps Commemorative Republic of Talossa coins could commemorate the things that have influenced us and our founders and are apart of the our history: Old micronations from which the founders have come from and greatly influence our nation (Penguinua (sp)??), people (Ben Madison or Bill Cooper, The first presidient [Gruber]) and places (around Milwaukee), as well as events (the Kingdom from the Exodus or perhaps Michael Pope reading the Proclamation of Independence to the Kingdom)
We will probably want to decide on the Specie Standard that we will want to eventually use for our official currency and then have atleast that much in the commemorative currencies assuming that we use only the itri and eta. It sounds as if we will be using other arbitrary means. Actually using coins that reflect or find their basis in previous micronations that have heavily influence us as a country would be interesting.
Postal Voting
I know some of you really like the idea of voting by mail as a standard, but I really loathe that idea. Things are already slow and complicated enough as it is. We already have found it difficult to get elections started and finished on time. There is pretty much no way to ensure, through a postal vote, that election results can be received in a timely manner.
ID Card
I, very much, want to see an ID card that will be valid as an 'ID Card' - especially for the use of buying alcohol and, well, identitifying one's self. If it can not be effectively be used for that then it is really just like a club ID. If we are going to be a real country we should probably have IDs that work like real ones.
