Oh, that lunatic. I read his website the other day, and he seems horrified by the prospect that anyone would actually want to *use* the Elvish tongues. Of course making your own Sindarin or Quenya texts is on the same level as fanfic. But he says that as if it were a bad thing.
An interesting question he raises is whether copyright law prevents anyone from using Tolkien's languages without permission. There would possibly be a *slightly* better case than RBM's one against anyone using Talossan except him, since Tolkien made up all those words himself rather than modifying a common Romance/Germanic word stock. However, M-P's famous point that a copyright is not the same as a patent would apply. A language is more like a computer programme than a book, surely.
