To appease some of us Deputat Miestrâ Schivâ posed the following amendment to 6RC5 even though she disagrees with it. Please vote:

AMENDMENT:
  1. That the preamble to this Bill be changed to:

    The Chamber of Deputies resolves that the following principles should form the basis of all policy by he Government of this Republic towards the Talossan Royalist regime:
  2. That section 8 of this bill be deleted

    James O'Neill    		I also like that it is passed by referendum - I recommended it as well, but for some reason that I cannot accurately articulate I do not like that it will have force of law.

    James O'Neill    		Esteemed, Speaker, if Miestrâ doesn't like her own amendment, then neither do I. We all have issued the klunker Prime Dictate and amendment in our lives. No big deal.

    My take on the Schivâ Doctrine is forthcoming. And as she says, there is the clause specifying a referendum on the subject. I, for one, would love to see a nationwide vote on this matter containing hard and tough text not watered down.

    I have at least one issue with the Schivâ doctrine, but have no issues with it going to the people for a referendum. I agree with her: let the people decide directly. It's their country, too, and their country that's at stake here.

    James O'Neill    		If this amendment goes through the Doctrine will be a useless piece of verbiage. Only if it's set in cast iron under what circumstances the question of Talossan unification can be opened does this resolution make any sense.

    James O'Neill    		... that the unamended version of this bill contains provision for a referendum before it passes into law. Dps. Ereufiglheu and Vercáriâ have genuine reasons for not wanting it to be law, but shouldn't we let the people decide?

    Well, I prefer to let the people decide in every single election - if there suddenly would be a rush for the BW and their planks, so be it. IMHO, we don't have to erect legalese barbed-wire fences around doctrines, ideologies, ideas. Let's keep our democracy and our discussions open for as many possible changes as possible.
