D. N. Vercáriâ Group: citizens (4498 posts total) (last post: March 15, 2008 - 16:51) Citizen #26: Dieter N Vercáriâ | If no one objects, I will appoint you the Minister of Finance and will ask the President for his formal assent.
I appreciate if ministers are working independently in their portfolios, but draft legislation and such should be discussed by the entire crew before these things are taken to the Chamber of Deputies. At least a majority of the crew should agree that said legislation is needed; also, we might want to determine the gist of said legislation before a draft is compiled.
Now to the preferences of this term: Everything that makes our nationette more interesting, from various trappings of nationhood to web pages that are catching the attention of passers-by. That is, writing and rewriting laws and manuals is not a top priority of this government.
Second, we should significantly get on with the issue of the nationalisation of webspace, and with choosing a new forum software, if this is the desire of the people. Immediately after issuing the address of the incoming government (tomorrow or Tuesday, Frankfurt time) I will ask the Minister of Information to gain information about what the people want, by running a peer-pressure-free survey in which all citizens who wish to do so can talk about their favourite musts and must-nots, without being proven wrong or cheered at by their fellow citizens. Out of the result of this survey the government will destill a catalogue of requirements, according to which a new forum software will be chosen... if the citizens really want a new forum software.
As we seem to agree that we must break up our isolation to foster immigration, I will ask the Foreign Minster to travel around in the internet to find places where likeminded spirits are hanging out, and to come home reporting us what he found. We shouldn't sacrifice the philosophy of "if you exist you exist" in favour of a new policy of mutual recognition, but more "diplomatic relationships" to other nationettes may be in order.
Staying in friendly contact with our cousins in the Kingdom will remain a priority, enforcing unity will not, as presently it is unlikely that we'll find a magic formula that unites monarchism and republicanism as well as the various lifestyles of the Republic and the Kingdom. Nonetheless we'll keep hoping for a day when the people of the Talossas will be in the streets demonstrating for a Talossan union that only their silly governments are trying to prevent.
Okay, that's it for now.
