Fellow Citizens, Friends,

the thirtyfirst of May and thus my last day of this term as President of the Republic of Talossa has finally come. I thank you for the great experience that this has been. I hope I wasn't too much of a disappointment.

Tomorrow we'll celebrate the fourth anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Talossa. We still exist, against predictions of sceptics who forsaw that a revolution against Robert de Rouergue would be a high road to chaos and oblivion. He're we are, still, following the prescriptions of a Constitution that was written and adopted by the people of a Republic that shouldn't exist. Even though it's happening far too slow, our Republic is still attracting new citizens, is still growing. We're still getting the friendly attention of people who wouldn't want to get involved in micronational affairs themselves. On a very small scale, in our peculiar field of activity, we are still something like superstars.

However, it is symptomatic for the somewhat fragile state of our nationette that I'm leaving my office today without the opportunity of symbolically passing my desk, my chair, the copier, the potted plants, the secret handshakes and all that to a successor, as the election isn't over yet.

The schedules and formalities of our Republic have been constantly under the attack of external influences during my term. For two times, incidentally always around CoD elections, our main system of communication has been endangered by a collapse. For the future of our nationette it will be crucial to find ways to be prepared for all eventualties that may bring our daily societal life to a halt. Beyond technicalities this might mean that our schedules will have to become more flexible, thus they could be more easily aligned with extra-Talossan affairs and duties of our citizens.

But hopefully ours is all the time of the world to get these minor issues resolved, as long as we still want to be what we are: Talossans of the Republican variety.

I can see it in your eyes, that you don't want to listen to a longwinded speech now. No need to hide that you are about to yawn already, because this outgoing President here is going on and on. Fellow Citizens, we've been working hard to keep the Republic alive for yet another year, so now let's celebrate and drift smoothly into the next year, the fourth year of our adventure. Have a nice "Talossan New Year's Eve" today, and a wonderful Ziuâ dal Liveraziun tomorrow.

Thank you for all, and long live the Republic.
